Protective Effect of Spirulina against Aspartame Induced Oxidative Stress and Molecular Gene Brain damage

Spirulina and lipoic acid has been considered as one of the most effective in ant oxidative stress anti-inflammatory activity.Aspartame (ASP) is mostwidely used (artificial sweeteners)used a variety foods feeds.This study was conducted to evaluate possible protective effect alpha-lipoic against aspartame induced brain damage rabbits. Forty two white male New-Zealand Rabbits were classified into seven equal groups. Group I: (Control group) received no drugs. II: rabbits administered with (250 mg/kg b. wt/day). III: alpha- (100 IV: spirulina platensis (1500 mg/kg. V: mg wt) treated wt). VI: b.wt) VII: daily for 8 weeks. At end experiment tissue isolated analyzed determination L-malondialdehyde (L-MDA), Catalase (CAT) reduced glutathione (GSH) addition Anti-inflammatory cytokines: Interlukin-10 (IL-10),Activator Protein-1(AP-1),Bax gene expression DNA damage. The obtained results showed significant up-regulation Activator level down-regulation (IL-10) marked increase L-MDA that indicated by an tail length percent However, CAT activity andGSH concentration markedly decreased when compared control group.Coad ministration spirulinaand alpha protect caused improvement all previous parameters attenuate changes. Conclusively, exerts aspartameusage through free radical scavenging activities well regenerating endogenous antioxidants defense system mechanisms.
